The Dyersburg Police Department is conducting an investigation into a shooting incident that unfolded in the Q-Mart parking lot on East Court Street, as detailed in a social media post from the department. The altercation, which took place on Monday afternoon, resulted in injury to two individuals, with one subject now facing charges.
According to the police report, the confrontation led to gunfire in the Q-Mart parking lot, responding officers arrived shortly before 2 p.m. on Monday, finding that those involved in the shooting had already left the scene, the officers were quickly able to locate the two suspects on their way to seek medical attention for gunshot wounds. A 16-year-old, whose treatment was managed locally, and a 26-year-old man who was subsequently transported to Regional One in Memphis due to the seriousness of his injuries.
Further complicating the situation, the teenage suspect was cited in court for possession of marijuana, identified as a Schedule VI drug, and for carrying a weapon unlawfully. Detectives have since managed to identify all parties involved in the incident and have conducted the necessary interviews, with the conclusion of the investigation slated to bring additional charges to light.
