Two people were injured in a parking lot accident at a Shaw's supermarket in Orleans, Massachusetts, officials say. According to a report by NBC Boston, the event occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. yesterday. A 77-year-old woman, while backing out of a parking space, reportedly accelerated suddenly, colliding with other parked cars and striking a pedestrian.
Orleans police responded to the scene and found the driver of the vehicle with serious injuries. She had to be transported to Cape Cod Hospital; however, her current condition remains unreported. The pedestrian sustained injuries that are not considered to be life-threatening. Officers are continuing to fully investigate the cause of the crash, urging that anyone with information to please reach out to the Orleans Police Department.
