
Last Friday morning, two men were charged in connection with a rollover crash that occurred on I-75 in Monroe County, as per statements from the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The incident involved a 1997 Ford Mustang, driven by Eddie Fox, 28, and his passenger Barry Childs Jr., 26, attempting to overtake a commercial vehicle and subsequently colliding with a Nissan Frontier, causing it to overturn.
According to WVLT, the crash took place near mile marker 65 at around 12:06 a.m. The Ford Mustang was reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when the accident unfolded. Furthermore, the driver of the Nissan was injured and his condition remains unspecified, and Fox, likewise Childs Jr., were unharmed in the crash.
Details obtained by WBIR clarify that the injured driver of the Nissan was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center and is in stable condition. Meanwhile, Fox faces charges of vehicular assault and driving on a revoked license. Barry Childs Jr. has been charged with accessory after the fact.
The Highway Patrol's preliminary report, as described by WATE, states that following the collision, the Mustang ran off the right side of the road, coming to a rest off the roadway, whereas, the Frontier ended up on its side on the left side of the road. As a result of these events both Fox and Childs Jr. are being held in the Monroe County Jail.
