This morning, Vacaville was disturbed by the sound of gunfire in what authorities have described as a carjacking incident. According to the Vacaville Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Beelard Ave just before 5 AM after receiving reports of the crime involving approximately 8 shots fired. Upon arrival, they found several shell casings but no other victims or property damage beyond the initial report.
The quick response of the police led to the discovery of the victim, who had not been hit by the gunfire but sustained a facial injury associated with the event. The victim took the initiative to self-transport to the hospital. The department has confirmed that this appears to be an isolated incident, with no ongoing threat to the community. However, this remains an active investigation as detectives piece together the morning's violent puzzle.
The culprits didn't evade capture for long in a coordinated effort with nearby law enforcement. Approximately 25 minutes after the crime was reported, two suspects and the victim’s stolen vehicle were located in Fairfield. Thanks to the collaborative effort, the suspects were apprehended, and the vehicle was recovered without further incident.
Authorities are encouraging anyone with information regarding this case to come forward. Detective Kaley Sullivan can be reached at 707.469.4857 with any details that may aid the investigation.
