Yesterday, the U.S. Marshals Service reported the capture of a young man, Dawson Maness, who now faces felony reckless endangerment charges after an incident involving a Tennessee State Trooper. According to U.S. Marshals Service, the trooper narrowly avoided a collision with a white Chevrolet truck driven by Maness, who then fled the scene when the officer tried to pull him over.

On May 16, running off the road to prevent what could have been a catastrophic clash, the trooper was forced during a routine patrol in Henderson County. The Chevy truck, slicing through the quiet of Tennessee’s thoroughfares, sped away at Maness' reckless helm. Working with the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in Jackson, Tennessee, was asked to step in and locate Maness.

Swift justice was met the following Monday when deputies and task force officers went to Maness' home on Bargerton Road. They arrested him in Lexington without incident. This run-in with Maness wasn't the first for the U.S. Marshals. Before this, in December 2024, he was implicated in a road rage incident where a FedEx truck was allegedly shot at by him; charges that day included attempted first-degree murder and felony reckless endangerment.

Maness was taken into custody again after being released on bond for earlier charges. His January 2025 arrest by the U.S. Marshals followed an incident involving a confrontation on Jackson's roads in December 2024. The most recent arrest occurred after a brief chase. Legal proceedings are ongoing.
