Tragedy struck in the Baden neighborhood as homicide detectives launched an investigation following the discovery of an unidentified man found deceased with gunshot wounds. The somber finding was reported late in the evening, on Tuesday, with police responding to a distress call at a residence in the heart of the community, St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.
According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the emergency call beckoned officers to the 900 block of Elias, where the victim’s body was located inside a home; this occurred shortly before the neighborhood's nighttime hush was broken by the incident, and unwittingly, as residents laid their heads to rest, the harsh reality of the city's violence crept silently in.
Evidence of the shooting was apparent, but the identity of the man has yet to be disclosed as the investigation progresses. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) swiftly responded to the scene only to pronounce the man dead, confirming the grim consequences of the gunshot wound(s) he had sustained.
Detectives have since been meticulously piecing together the circumstances that led to this fatal event, an ongoing effort to understand and hopefully bring to light the actions preceding the loss of life.
