According to DOTD's latest announcement, the closures are part of necessary milling and paving operations that are planned to take place on various nights, weather permitting.
For those planning their routes, take note that the entrance ramp closed on Tuesday from 8:00 p.m. until Wednesday, at 6:00 a.m., and while a closure was planned for Thursday, it was cancelled, upcoming closures are to follow, including today at 8:00 p.m. until tomorrow at 6:00 a.m., and continuing each night until Friday, June 6, each period beginning at 8:00 p.m. and ending at 6:00 a.m. the following morning, this schedule hopes to minimize disruptions to daily commuters.
During these closures, motorists who typically enter I-10 Westbound at LA 13 will need to follow the posted detour route. This modification involves initially heading eastbound on I-10 to Exit 82 - LA 1111 (East Crowley), turning north on LA 1111, and then rejoining I-10 Westbound from there.
The DOTD website reminds the public to exercise caution when driving near or through construction zones and to stay alert for work crews and equipment.
