Motorists in Livingston and East Baton Rouge Parishes should be prepared for roadwork, as the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced alternating ramp and lane closures on I-12 Eastbound and I-10 Westbound and Eastbound. According to the official DOTD announcement, closures will impact I-12 Eastbound from the Exit 6 (Millerville Rd.) off-ramp to the Exit 7 (O’Neal Ln.) on-ramp, as well as I-10 Eastbound from the I-12/I-10 split to Exit 163 (Siegan Lane), and I-10 Westbound from Exit 163 (Siegan Lane) to Exit 160 (Essen Ln.). Beginning today and continuing through Sunday, May 11, 2025, the closures are due to essential concrete patching and related maintenance work.
Specifically, closures are scheduled to occur nightly from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the next morning. Affected ramps include Exit 163 (Siegan to Westbound I-10 on-ramp), Exit 162 (Blue Bonnet to Westbound I-10 on-ramp), Exit 160 (Westbound I-10 to Essen off-ramp), and Exit 160 (Essen to Westbound I-10 on-ramp), as stated in the DOTD notice. For those planning on traveling during these times, alternative routes should be considered to avoid delays.
The department urges drivers to exercise patience and caution when navigating through these construction zones, stating, "Please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment," as mentioned in the same announcement.
