A fatal crash occurred yesterday morning on 422 Old Westport Road in Dartmouth, where a Westport couple, Jeffrey and Diane Moniz, both 76, were killed. According to NBC Boston, the couple died after a gray Toyota RAV4, driven by 63-year-old Philip Morris of Dartmouth, crossed the double yellow line and struck their green Toyota Echo in a head-on collision.

Police responded to the scene and found Morris with minor injuries. He has been charged with two counts of motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation and a marked lanes violation. He is expected to be summonsed to court at a later date.

The Monizes were transported to a local hospital but were pronounced dead from their injuries.

As reported by WCVB, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash, including what caused Morris to cross into the opposite lane. The investigation remains ongoing.
