Last night, an armed robbery occurred at the Mini Market in Weymouth. Police have identified the suspect as Gregory Masson, 47, of 350 Middle Street. According to a statement from Weymouth Police Department's Facebook page, officers responded to the scene shortly after 7:40 PM and found Masson unresponsive, with a firearm near his waistband and cash in his hand.
Surveillance footage showed that the suspect, wearing a mask, entered the store shortly before closing and demanded money while displaying a firearm. Approximately $500 was taken from the register. A confrontation with a store employee ensued, resulting in injuries to both individuals. The injuries were reported as non-life-threatening. Police arrived during the altercation.
Masson has been charged with Armed Robbery While Masked. He was transported to South Shore Hospital by South Shore EMS for medical attention. Police confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the community in connection with this incident.
The investigation remains active. Authorities, including Weymouth Police, Weymouth Fire, and South Shore EMS, are reviewing evidence and surveillance footage. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses.
Masson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
