Yesterday morning in DeKalb County, a shooting occurred along Memorial Drive that left a woman injured, as police and local investigators began piecing together the events leading up to the incident. Responding to reports of a person shot around 7:46 a.m., officers arrived at the 4800 block of Memorial Drive to find a woman in her 40s with a gunshot wound, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.
The woman, despite her injuries, was conscious and able to communicate with the first responders. She was later transported to a hospital, where she is reportedly in a stable condition. According to preliminary information provided by the DeKalb County Police, it appears the victim may have been caught in the crossfire between two other individuals, an aspect of the case that is still under active investigation.
WSB-TV adds that while the details around the shooting remain limited, the possibility that the woman was an unintended victim caught between a shootout is a lead authorities are exploring.
