On Friday evening last week, a 44-year-old woman was shot in Atlanta. The incident took place around 7:09 PM at the intersection of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard SW and Beckwith Street SW. According to a news release from the Atlanta Police Department, officers found the woman with a gunshot wound to her left leg.
She was alert, conscious, and breathing when police arrived. The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.
The Aggravated Assault Unit is leading the investigation. As of now, no information about suspects or the circumstances of the shooting has been released. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
