The Elk Grove Police Department reported that officers responded to the scene near the intersection of Elk Grove Boulevard and Backer Ranch Road at around 5:27 a.m. According to the Elk Grove Police Department's Facebook update, upon arrival, they found the lone occupant of the vehicle already deceased.
The initial closure of eastbound Elk Grove Boulevard, between Cresleigh Parkway and Backer Ranch Road, left morning commuters to hastily arrange alternative routes. As the traffic detectives took to thoroughly investigate the somber scene, the road remained closed, causing further disruptions to daily travel.
Further details emerged later as the Elk Grove Police Department elaborated on the event in a press release. A 23-year-old man driving a Lexus eastbound on Elk Grove Boulevard reportedly veered off the road just west of Backer Ranch Road and collided with a tree. The impact was lethal, and the driver was pronounced dead right where misfortune had befallen him.
