
Tragedy struck over the weekend when an auto-pedestrian accident resulted in the death of a young woman on Interstate 240. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol confirmed the incident happened yesterday morning near the intersection of W I-240 and S Western Avenue. KFOR reports that authorities responded to the scene where a female pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle, with a medical examiner arriving shortly after.
Further details released by the OHP, and subsequently reported by OKC FOX, state that a 2021 Dodge RAM 2500, driven by 22-year-old Derek Brown, was traveling eastbound on I-240. At around 4:42 a.m., Julissa Duncan, also 22, was standing in the center lane and was struck by the vehicle. The collision led to the closure of eastbound I-240 lanes for approximately an hour and a half.
The victim was identified as Julissa Duncan of Oklahoma City. A report from KOCO indicates that the accident occurred around 4:45 a.m., an alignment with the timeframe provided by other sources. After the emergency services concluded their initial investigation and clean up, the interstate was reopened to regular traffic flow.
