Tragedy struck early Saturday morning at a Phoenix apartment complex, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old man and injuries to two others. The Phoenix Police Department was called to the scene near 40th Street and Camelback Road at approximately 4:30 a.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Noel Nava with a gunshot wound. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
A second man, found injured at the location, received treatment for a wound presumed to be caused by the same incident and was later released. A third individual, also suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot injury, checked into a nearby hospital. Police have disclosed that there are currently no suspects in custody and that multiple shooters might have been involved, ABC15 reported.
The shooting appears to have occurred following a large party held at the apartment complex. While the investigation is ongoing, the Phoenix Police Department encourages witnesses, especially those with video evidence, to come forward and assist in the pursuit of justice. FOX 10 Phoenix obtained a statement from investigators urging the public to submit any relevant footage through the police department’s online portal.
The identity of the alleged shooters, as well as potential motives or affiliations with vehicles, remains unknown at this time. Sources close to the investigation express hope that community cooperation will shed light on the circumstances leading to this fatal event and, ultimately, provide closure to the affected families. In the meantime, those with information that could aid the police are encouraged to submit an anonymous tip by calling Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or by uploading videos directly to the Phoenix Police Department's evidence portal.
