A motorcycle accident in Westborough has claimed the life of a 24-year-old Worcester resident. According to a social media post by the Westborough Police Department, the crash occurred yesterday, when the motorcycle left the roadway and struck a concrete light pole base near Speedway Plaza at 290 Turnpike Road. The incident was reported at approximately 12:24 p.m. Upon arrival, police found the motorcyclist unresponsive.
Following the accident, Westborough Fire Department paramedics attempted to quickly administer life-saving measures to the man. He was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he later died due to his sustained injuries. The effort to save his life was ultimately unsuccessful, revealing the vulnerability of our flesh against the unfeeling concrete and steel of our constructions.
The identity of the deceased is being withheld until the next of kin can be fully notified. There is currently no indication of other vehicles involved in the crash. The Westborough Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit is conducting an ongoing investigation into the cause of the crash, in collaboration with the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
