Residents at an apartment complex on the 500 block of Grant Street East in Minneapolis breathed easier this week, after a sharp-eyed neighbor and prompt police action put an end to a spree of mail theft. According to a social media post by the Minneapolis Police Department, officers were alerted to the situation when someone in the building monitoring the security cameras witnessed an individual blatantly opening a package that wasn't theirs.
The quick thinking of the resident, who served as the MPD's eyes on the ground, provided timely and accurate descriptions. Acting on this information, police were able to apprehend all three suspects involved in the criminal activity, as per the MPD. Surveillance footage captured one of them rummaging through someone else's mail—an act that led directly to an arrest.
