Boston University is facing renewed scrutiny following allegations made by Alex Cooper, host of the podcast Call Her Daddy, who accused a former soccer coach of sexual harassment. In the Hulu docuseries Call Her Alex, Cooper alleges that Nancy Feldman, her coach during her time on the university’s soccer team from 2013 to 2015, engaged in inappropriate behavior, including unsolicited touching and personal questions, according to FOX News.
Cooper said the behavior escalated in her sophomore year, including an incident where Feldman touched her neck after practice and referred to her face as her "[Cooper’s] money maker." In her junior year, Cooper said she was questioned about her sexual activity. She and her parents reported the harassment during a meeting with the university’s athletics department dean. As noted by MassLive, during that meeting, officials asked her, “What do you want?”
Boston University responded to the allegations, stating it has “a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment” and is committed to student safety, citing available resources and a reporting system through its Equal Opportunity Office, as per MassLive. Cooper did not return to the soccer team for her senior year.
These allegations come as Cooper continues her career success, with her podcast securing major deals with Spotify and SiriusXM.
