As the lead in the seminal teen comedy Clueless, Silverstone will host a special 30th-anniversary screening of the movie on July 25 at the San Jose Civic. The event, a blend of celluloid flashback and live conversation, will also treat fans to an audience Q&A with Silverstone after the film, reported the San Francisco Chronicle.
The 1995 film, which became an archetype of teen culture with its distinctive take on fashion, slang, and high school hierarchy, still resonates today. Silverstone's Cher Horowitz, innately kind but often clueless, became an instant icon, the film a cultural touchstone. Alongside Silverstone's announcement, attendees of the celebratory screening can hope to hear some on-set tales from the actress who, before "Clueless," first appeared in "The Crush" and rocked the world in Aerosmith's music videos.
This anniversary is just one part of Silverstone's busy schedule. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the actress is starring in the upcoming film Pretty Thing, which will be released on July 4. Bugonia, directed by the noted Yorgos Lanthimos, is set to hit theaters in October. Moreover, buzz surrounds the "Clueless" sequel series, which is currently developing at Peacock, where Silverstone will star and executive produce.
