
Today, an Amazon truck caught fire in Boston’s Ted Williams Tunnel, causing a major disruption and prompting the closure of the eastbound lanes around 11:00 AM. According to Boston 25 News, video from MassDOT showed the truck fully engulfed in flames as traffic initially continued to pass before authorities stopped vehicles from entering the tunnel.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation used X to notify drivers of the closure, which caused delays for those traveling to Logan Airport. The Boston Herald reported that lanes reopened shortly after noon. The Boston Fire Department responded to the scene, and a tow truck was brought in to remove the damaged vehicle. Logan Airport advised travelers to use alternate routes, such as Route 1A.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and no additional information about possible injuries has been released by the Boston Fire Department.
