Hutto Police Department officers were dispatched to a disturbance call due to a large party in the Hutto Park subdivision, only to have to immediately respond to reports of gunfire. According to FOX 7 Austin, the incident occurred just before 12:30 a.m. on June 1, when officers arrived at Phillips Street in response to the noise complaint that swiftly escalated into a more serious situation.
Amid the chaos, as 911 callers reported people beginning to shoot, run, and drive quickly away from the scene, police located a male juvenile with a gunshot wound to his arm. As stated by CBS Austin, the injury, fortunately, was non-life-threatening, and the boy was promptly taken to a local hospital by Williamson County EMS. During the incident, at least one vehicle and one home were struck by bullets, although no other injuries have been reported.
Further developments included the arrest of an 18-year-old individual who was found unlawfully carrying a weapon at the scene of the shooting. This individual, who was not a Hutto resident, was taken into custody and has been transported to the Williamson County Jail. The connection between the individual arrested and the shooting has not been confirmed thus far.
