The search continues for a suspect following the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy in Las Cruces, with the ATF now offering a reward up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. This cash incentive is in addition to the $2,000 already on the table from Crime Stoppers of Las Cruces-Dona Ana County, according to the Las Cruces Police Department.
The victim, identified as Alejandro Roman, was a backseat passenger in a vehicle that appeared to have been directly targeted by the suspect on the evening of June 2. The Las Cruces Police Department has released video and still images of the suspect's vehicle, which is believed to be a white mid-size SUV. With the investigation suggesting that the shooting may have been the result of road rage, the police are now trying hard to piece together clues that could lead to tracking down the male suspect.
Details shared by the police indicate the suspect may have drastically altered their behavior following the crime. They might have concealed their vehicle, skipped work, left town, or canceled plans to avoid detection. Furthermore, the individual in question may be demonstrating a newfound interest in the case, inquiring about details, or checking social media for updates.
