As Juneteenth rolls around, Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department customers will need to adjust their calendars for trash collection. According to an official statement from the ACC government website, there will be no compost, garbage, recycling, or limb and leaf collections on Thursday, June 19, due to the Juneteenth Holiday.

For residents and businesses outside the downtown district looking to clear their spaces of waste and recyclables, those regularly serviced on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will experience no change. However, for Thursday and Friday, services have been combined and will occur on Friday, June 20. Residents are reminded that it is essential to place their bins on the curb by 7:00 AM sharp on the rescheduled pick-up day.

Residents and business owners in the downtown district won’t be left out. The ACC Solid Waste Department has confirmed that collection services will continue as usual, despite schedule changes surrounding the Juneteenth holiday. After the commemorations wrap up, regular trash pickup will resume the following week, starting Monday, June 23, with garbage trucks returning to their normal routes.
