For animal lovers, the Animal Shelter will take a break from its regular operations on Juneteenth. However, emergency services for serious incidents involving animals will remain available by calling 911. Leisure seekers will find parks open, but municipal pools and summer camps will hit the pause button for the day. The Solid Waste department has rearranged its collection schedule, with Monday through Wednesday’s pick-ups unchanged while Thursday and Friday collections merge into a one-day service on Friday.
Additionally, facilities such as City Hall, the Water Business Office, the Courthouse, and other government buildings will shut their doors in observance of Juneteenth.
