Early in the quiet haze of last Thursday morning, the Atlanta Police Department responded to a dispute at 720 Hank Aaron Dr SE, an event that unfolded into a legal scrum between a booting employee and a motorist with a freshly immobilized vehicle. According to a statement from the Atlanta Police Department, officers arrived around 6 a.m. after receiving a request for assistance over a parking boot issue.
The APD report notes that the booting employee, identified as Mr. Evan Veasley, appeared on the scene to discuss the matter with officers and although he initially provided his driver's license for the officer’s scrutiny, the situation took a sharp turn as Mr. Veasley's frustration bubbled over, resulting he demanded the immediate return of his identification declaring he needed to leave but officers placed him in temporary detention for safety purposes and to wrap up their ongoing investigation.
Investigative findings later revealed a hitch in Mr. Veasley's compliance with local law: he was operating without a valid, updated permit required by the City of Atlanta, per Atlanta City Ordinance 162-258. While he was eventually released, Veasley left with a copy of pending charges against him and the case remains under investigation by the authorities.
