The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) is ramping up its services to accommodate the swell of revelers heading to San Francisco’s 55th annual Pride Parade on June 29. BART is not just suggesting but actively encouraging parade-goers to "ride with Pride," which might be the smartest move to avoid traffic and parking hassles during these jubilant celebrations. According to an announcement made by BART, service will start earlier at 8 AM and offer five-line service through downtown San Francisco with trains coming approximately every five minutes.
For those planning to join the festivities, BART is set to dispatch additional event trains to keep up with demand. These are scheduled to aid the regular service between Millbrae and Downtown San Francisco and between Pleasant Hill and Downtown San Francisco from 9:30 to 11 AM and then again starting at 2 PM into the evening. As outlined in the BART advisory, expect heavy traffic at Downtown stations, particularly Embarcadero Station before the 10 AM parade kickoff and Civic Center Station throughout the day.
In addition to increased services, BART has shared some tips for a smooth transit experience. Travelers are encouraged to preload a Clipper card on their smartphones using Apple Pay or Google Pay, avoiding the $3 new card fee. BART’s official app can also be downloaded for trip planning, real-time departures, and parking payment. With anticipated crowds, patience is emphasized, and travelers are advised to make room by moving to the center of the train cars.
