Heads up, Baton Rouge and Livingston Parish drivers, your commute is about to get a bit more complicated. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced various ramp and lane closures on I-10, both Eastbound and Westbound, beginning today, June 2, through Sunday, June 8. According to the official release by DOTD, this includes nightly shutdowns of the right and center lanes on I-10 Eastbound from the I-12/I-10 split to Siegan Lane and similar closures on I-10 Westbound between Siegan Lane and the I-12 East exit.
If that's your route, expect the closures to take place from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, every night from Monday to Saturday. On-ramps and off-ramps at Exit 162 (Bluebonnet to Westbound I-10) and, Exit 160 (Westbound I-10 to Essen) will also see alternating nightly closures. These closures are necessary for concrete patching and related work, an attempt to mend the bones of a highway that hustles myriad souls to their places of trade and rest.
But as with all things reliant on the sky's whims, these plans hinge on the weather playing nice. DOTD urges motorists to exercise patience, drive cautiously, and keep those peepers peeled for work crews and their equipment dotted along these stretches.
