The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has apprehended Ty'Relle Tarver, an 18-year-old resident of Baxley, Georgia, charging him with serious crimes including malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault in connection to the shooting death of 41-year-old Jeremy Beckworth. This development comes after Baxley Police Department responded to a late-night 911 call on May 21, which reported a shooting near Highland Drive and Edgarton Road, as reported by the GBI.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered Beckworth with a fatal gunshot wound, confirming his demise at the scene. The GBI, requested by the local police to lead the death investigation, alleges that Tarver fired multiple shots at Beckworth and his girlfriend, striking and ultimately killing Beckworth. The authorities transported Beckworth's body to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Pooler for an autopsy to ascertain the official cause and manner of his death.

Following the incident, law enforcement apprehended Tarver without incident yesterday, and he has since been held at the Appling County Jail. The case has drawn in support from multiple law enforcement agencies including the Baxley Police Department, Appling County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Department of Corrections, and the U.S. Marshal’s Service, who have assisted the GBI in the investigation efforts, as detailed by the GBI.

The GBI has announced that the investigation is currently active and ongoing, urging anyone with information to come forward. They can contact the Baxley Police Department or the GBI’s Regional Investigative Office in Douglas.
