The City of Blaine’s Planning Commission has announced a public hearing regarding a new application by SNAP’t Cat Rescue to establish a domestic animal indoor kennel, specifically a cat adoption center, at 11708 Jefferson Street NE. As reported in the city's official notice, the proposed site is situated in the Community Commercial (B-2) zoning district. According to documentation, the applicant is seeking a conditional use permit for the establishment of the center.
The public hearing is an opportunity for local residents to provide their input on the potential new neighbor. Scheduled for July 8, 2025, the hearing will commence at 7 PM in the Blaine City Hall Council Chambers. The Planning Commission, which serves as an advisory group, will consider public comments and recommendations before advancing their own to the City Council, the final arbiter in the application process. In the days leading up to the hearing, citizens can review the submitted plans and staff report at the city's website.
Those who wish to participate have several options, including attending the hearing in person, to voice their thoughts directly. For those unable to attend, or who prefer to submit their commentary in writing, the Planning Department is accepting emailed and mailed comments until Noon on the day before the hearing. The public can also view the meeting via live broadcast on Comcast channel 799 or stream it online at BlaineMN.gov/Video.
Blaine residents requiring auxiliary assistance for the hearing, such as an interpreter, must reach out to Pat Robinson at the Planning Department by July 3, 2025, to make the necessary arrangements. Further information regarding participation, access to materials for review, and viewing options for the upcoming hearing can be found through the city’s Planning Department.
