Bloomington residents, mark your calendars for an upcoming public hearing where the City Council will address the complexities of sewers, specifically the charges tied to them. Scheduled for June 30, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., the City Council is set to deliberate on Case #PL202500072, a proposal that aims to amend the fine workings of Chapter 11 in the City Code. The heart of the matter is making sense of optional charges when calculating city sewer availability charges, alongside the addition of an adjustment allowance to those same charges. According to the City of Bloomington's announcement, the hearing will be held at the Bloomington Civic Plaza, also available via electronic means in accordance with state law, for those who'd rather tune in from the comfort of their own home.
For those interested in participating in the discussion, there are multiple channels to tune in or weigh in on the matters at hand. In-person attendance is welcome at the aforementioned Civic Plaza. Alternatively, residents can watch the proceedings on BTV, from the comfort of Comcast channels 859 or 14. Moreover, it's available for streaming online – at blm.mn/btv-live or via the city's YouTube channel at blm.mn/youtube.
Providing public testimony isn’t limited to those attending in person. You can call in at 1-415-655-0001, enter the access code TBA#, followed by password 063025#, and press *3 to join the queue. Once called upon, identified by the first six digits of your number, you'll be live for the council – so, make your words count. Alternatively, you can leave a voicemail or send an email to [email protected] with your comments, though this needs to be done by 2 p.m. on the day of the hearing, and do include the relevant agenda item title and number.
