The Blue Man Group will end its Boston run on July 6, concluding a 30-year presence at the Charles Playhouse. According to Boston.com, over 4.5 million people have attended their performances in the city since their debut in 1995.
The group's final show in Boston follows other recent closures, including their off-Broadway production in New York in February and their Chicago production in January. As reported by CBS News, the New York closure was linked to declining ticket sales.
Blue Man Group’s general manager, Jonathan Screnci, told CBS News, “It has been a privilege to be a part of Blue Man Group Boston, a camaraderie that has been celebrated by the Boston community since we first opened in 1995 at the Charles Playhouse."
While the Boston show is ending, the Blue Man Group will continue performances in Las Vegas and international locations. A new North American tour is also being planned, though dates have not yet been announced. Tickets for the final Boston shows are available at Blueman.com.
