Yesterday in Brentwood, a routine patrol suddenly turned into a chase scenario when local police officers identified a vehicle that was reported as stolen. According to a social media post by the City of Brentwood Police Department, the events unfolded around 2:00 PM on Sand Creek Road near Shady Willow Lane, where the officers' attempt to intercept the vehicle led to a pursuit as the driver aggressively fled the scene.
The chase escalated quickly, resulting in the suspect's vehicle crashing into a curb at the intersection of Highland Way and Shadowcliff Way. Instead of surrendering, the two occupants decided to bolt from the crashed vehicle on foot. Demonstrating a startling lack of foresight, they hurdled fences into a residential area, triggering a manhunt. Mobilizing swiftly, police secured the area and deployed drones to aid in the search for the suspects who were now at large within the neighborhood's confines.
Officers soon located a 16-year-old male from Antioch, found concealed in a private yard on Aurora Court, "was safely taken into custody," the Brentwood Police detailed in their post. The second suspect, a 17-year-old male from Brentwood, did not manage to evade capture for long either, as he was later found and apprehended thanks to the cumulative effort of the department's swing shift and graveyard teams.
