Authorities in Plymouth County have released details about a fatal incident in Brockton involving an apparent murder-suicide. Around 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, the landlord of 643 North Main Street found Yoraily Santos, 18, and Starli Roa Taveras, 22, dead in their apartment. According to MassLive, the landlord contacted police immediately after discovering the bodies.
When first responders arrived, they found Santos on the kitchen floor with multiple gunshot wounds and Taveras in a bedroom with what seemed to be self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The Plymouth District Attorney's Office confirmed the identities of the deceased and informed that a Glock 19 Gen 5 firearm, an empty magazine, and one 9mm round in the chamber were found adjacent to Taveras’ body. Further details from NBC Boston included the recovery of nine shell casings and seven projectiles from the apartment.
Investigators have found that there was a history of domestic violence between Santos and Taveras, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office. Video surveillance and witness statements indicated that they were the only people in the home at the time of the incident.
