Alex Cooper, known for her wildly popular "Call Her Daddy" podcast, has come forward publically to accuse her former Boston University soccer coach, Nancy Feldman, of sexual harassment. The revelations surface in Cooper's docuseries "Call Her Alex," set to stream on Hulu starting Tuesday, after premiering at the Tribeca Festival two days prior. In a statement obtained by Deadline, Cooper stated she felt compelled to speak out because she discovered that "the harassment and abuse of power is still happening on the campus of Boston University."
Detailing her experiences, Cooper recounted incidents from her time at BU from 2013 to 2015, when she claims Feldman made inappropriate comments about her body and romantic life and allegedly retaliated against her for not divulging details. "It was this psychotic game of, 'You want to play, tell me about your sex life,'" Cooper said in the documentary, according to Deadline. The social media influencer further alleged that Feldman's behavior included unwanted physical contact and an insistence on being alone with her. Throughout her career at BU, Cooper played in 49 games, but felt she had to leave the team in her senior year because of the alleged harrowing experiences.
Efforts to completely investigate the claims seem to have fallen short. Cooper told USA Today that Boston University officials dismissed her claims within minutes after she and her mother presented the evidence of the harassment to the school's "dean of athletics." The coach at the center of these allegations, Nancy Feldman, retired in 2022 after a long tenure that saw the team rise to compete at top national levels. Attempts by both NewsCenter 5 and the Globe to reach out to Boston University and Feldman have been met with silence.
Cooper has since segued from a provocative podcast personality to a voice championing female empowerment. Her interview list boasts an impressive lineup, including Vice President Kamala Harris, cementing her reputation as a pivotal media influencer. Notably, after signing a three-year, $60 million contract with Spotify in 2021, she managed to later ink a $125 million deal with SiriusXM, ranking her show's exclusivity on par with the likes of Howard Stern's media transitions.
