The team at Cocke County Swift Water Rescue has grown stronger as Captain Luke Dixon concludes a rigorous training regime, ascending to the rank of certified diver. According to a social media post by the Cocke County Emergency Management Agency, Captain Dixon achieved his certification yesterday, marking a significant enhancement of the team's capabilities.
Alongside his duties as a shift captain with The Cocke County Fire Department, Dixon has been part of the 'Original Eight Swift Water Rescue Operators.' Now designated as "Delta 3," he joins an elite unit including Deputy Randy Forbes ("Delta 1") and Lt. Danny Ray Reece ("Delta 2"). This triad forms the backbone of a group responsible for executing swift water rescue and recovery operations within the waterways of Cocke County. They also remain on standby to assist neighboring counties through mutual aid agreements.
Their technical prowess as SWR Technicians is critical, as they back up other teams ensuring comprehensive emergency response coverage. The agency’s announcement ended with a message of support: “Congratulations Delta 3!” showing their confidence in his skills and contributions.
