On Friday last week Chelsea Police arrested 29-year-old Jose Eduardo Baez Baez on cocaine trafficking charges following the execution of a court-authorized search warrant at a Highland Street apartment. According to the Chelsea Police Department's press release on Facebook, the arrest resulted from an investigation involving controlled purchases and surveillance.

During the search, officers seized suspected crack cocaine, powder cocaine, drug packaging materials, a digital scale, and cash believed to be linked to drug sales. The operation was carried out by Chelsea Police detectives with assistance from the Peabody Police Department's K-9 unit.

Police reported that Baez was observed leaving the residence and was detained without incident before the search was conducted. He is charged with trafficking cocaine in an amount between 18 and less than 36 grams under Massachusetts law.

The Chelsea Police Department has encouraged residents to provide any relevant information through social media or its tip line as part of ongoing efforts to address illegal drug activity.
