A Cincinnati man has been detained in relation to the recent shooting that injured a two-year-old child in the Villages at Roll Hill. The suspect, named as Carmelo Anderson, is facing a charge of tampering with evidence. Local12 reports Anderson is accused of attempting to dispose of the firearm involved in the incident. Following his arrest, a bond was set at $10,000.

The shooting took place last Saturday around noon on Nottingham Road. Cincinnati Police Department responded to a call about a person shot and discovered the toddler with a gunshot wound. FOX19 notes that the child was immediately transported to Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center and is currently listed in stable condition.

In wake of the incident, Cincinnati's Police Chief, Teresa Theetge, expressed her dismay and concern over the violence affecting children in the community. "I am outraged, heartbroken, and deeply disappointed to learn that yet another child—a 2-year-old—has endured unimaginable pain and trauma after sustaining a gunshot injury this weekend. Thank God this child is still alive. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: this cannot keep happening. We have a shared responsibility to protect our innocent, curious children," Theetge stated, as reported by WLWT.

Theetge also mentioned that if the investigation reveals any negligence on the part of the gun owner, the police department will collaborate with the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office. The case remains an active investigation, and authorities have not provided detailed information regarding the circumstances leading to the shooting. Any further findings will likely determine the full scope of charges related to this grave incident.
