The Margate Fire Department recently applauded the valor and dedication of three new firefighters during a Badge Pinning Ceremony. As reported by the city's announcement, this ceremony marks the transition of Kylie Carlson, Samantha McCullough, and Jose Hernandez from probational status to fully integrated members of the firefighting team. Class 24-02, as they are collectively known, have proven themselves equipped and resolute in the face of the manifold challenges that mark the life of a firefighter.
Training Chief Oscar Rodriguez, overseeing their development, intoned with certainty that "They're ready. They're more than ready." The freshly inducted fire and rescue service members, all credited with admirable skills and steadfastness, have each undertaken an oath, as Escort found in the Margate announcement, to faithfully protect life and property, serving with courage and compassion.
At age 25, Jose Hernandez eyes a long-term commitment to his newfound calling, telling the City of Margate, "We have a lot more to learn." Samantha McCullough, 30, brings a potent personal narrative to her role as a firefighter – she is also a mother of four. Samantha asserted her intentions, "I wanted them to know they can pursue their dreams no matter what," she shared in an interview with the department.
Kylie Carlson, at 23, enters the fold with optimism, having encountered "lots of happiness" in her training. Proudly, she is poised to dedicate her service to the City of Margate, as she stated in the official news release.
