A 2-year-old boy has tragically lost his life after drowning in a pond behind his Monroe County home this past weekend. As reported by FOX5 Atlanta, the Monroe County Sheriff's Office shared that the deputies were called to the residence off Gose Road around 4:45 p.m. last Saturday.
Upon their arrival, officials witnessed an individual attempting to resuscitate the young boy through CPR. The toddler was quickly transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The child's identity has yet to be released by authorities, who are still to thoroughly investigate and conclude the circumstances surrounding this incident.
