A fraudulent check scheme was intercepted at Eastern Bank on Essex Street in Lawrence. A 57-year-old man from Connecticut, identified as Scott Andrew White, was arrested after allegedly attempting to cash a fake check using a false identity, according to the Lawrence Police Department's Facebook post.
Officer Andres Llerena responded to a call from bank staff, who reported the incident. White initially provided a false name but later confirmed his real identity after being read his Miranda Rights. Bank employees also provided evidence of White’s alleged previous attempts to use the same fraudulent identity at other locations.
White was charged with identity fraud, forgery, and larceny over $1,200. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Lawrence District Court.
