Eric Dwayne Ned, a previously convicted felon, has been given a 95-month prison sentence for offenses including the possession of firearms and cocaine trafficking. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Acting United States Attorney Nancy E. Larson confirmed the sentencing by United States District Judge Ada Brown last Wednesday.
Details surrounding the case reveal that Ned was apprehended initially in June 2021, after evading arrest and for violent exchanges with both law enforcement and other inmates while being incarcerated previously. After posting bond twice for subsequent arrests in September 2021 and March 2022, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives took note of his actions and initiated federal charges. With a history of felony convictions for drug offenses and domestic violence assaults, Ned found himself entangled again in the grips of the justice system.
During the investigation conducted by ATF agents, it was uncovered that Ned had had a firearm, which is illegal for a convicted felon, and he had intentions of distributing cocaine. The federal case was successfully prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney John Boyle.
The incarceration not only speaks to the ongoing issues of recidivism but also to the tireless work of local and federal agencies in thwarting the illegal activities of repeat offenders. Engaging in fights with other inmates and jail staff, the court records underscore Ned's violent inclinations, even while under the watchful eye of the justice system.
