A stabbing incident in Cotati on Monday afternoon led to the arrest of a man for attempted murder, local authorities report. Officers from the Cotati Police Department were called to the scene on Valparaiso Avenue around 4:37 PM, where they found an adult male victim suffering from a stab wound. First aid was administered immediately as the victim called out the alleged attacker, Finn Cook, who was supposedly still inside the residence.
According to the Cotati Police Department's social media post, officers safely subdued the suspect by using de-escalation techniques, notably commanding verbally and maintaining a safe distance. Cook ultimately complied with the officers’ demands to leave the house peacefully and was detained.
The incident has led to both the victim and Cook receiving medical care at nearby hospitals. Details about their conditions were not provided, but Cook was booked into Sonoma County Jail following his medical clearance. The Sonoma County District Attorney has since charged him with attempted murder, the department's post outlined.
