Downtown Crabapple is set to celebrate Independence Day in style with its annual Red, White, and YOU event, inviting the community to join in the patriotic festivities. According to a Milton government announcement, this festive event, complete with a 'walking parade,' foam pit, and a spread of culinary delights, is set for July 4. It's happening between 9 a.m. and noon at Broadwell Pavilion, with activities sprawling throughout the area.

In a demonstration of patriotism and community, the event's hallmark, 'Walking Parade' kicks off around 9:45 a.m. where residents can flaunt their American colors and dress up anything from their kids to their pets, wagons, and strollers for the procession. Though golf carts can't join the march, for children's safety, spectators can expect a colorful display of enthusiasm. The parade takes a stroll around the neighborhood, returning to the pavilion to celebrate the participants, with prizes for those standing out in categories like the Best Dressed Family and Most Creative.

Before and after the event, families will find a variety of activities, particularly aimed at younger patriots. The lineup includes face painting, balloon animal crafting, dancing to a DJ's beat, plus arts and crafts—highlighted by a new addition, a kid-friendly foam pit. For the award hopefuls, make sure to snap a photo at Painted Horse Winery and Vineyards' horse trailer before competing, as detailed by the City of Milton.

There will be plenty of food options available. The Frybaby food truck will offer breakfast bowls, fries, and tots, while Milton’s Fire Corps volunteers will be grilling hot dogs. To help beat the summer heat, Pelican’s SnoBalls will serve shaved ice, and King of Pops will have popsicles. For coffee lovers, Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee will have a variety of drinks, both hot and cold.

Appreciations are in order for the event's main sponsor, the Reid Casey Real Estate team, alongside Painted Horse Winery and Vineyards, and Stable Orthodontics which sponsors at the 'Stripes' level. Note that to accommodate the festivities, Broadwell Road will shut down between Marstrow Drive and the intersection of Crabapple Road and Mayfield Road starting at 7 a.m., only reopening around 2 p.m, as per the city's announcement.
