The ongoing bridge rehabilitation effort in Crawford County is advancing with the scheduled closure of the Route C bridge over Interstate 44 starting Monday, June 9. Previously, the project team, led by Kozeny-Wagner, Inc., completed work ahead of schedule on the Route FF bridge. This progress is a part of Missouri's larger initiative to revitalize the deteriorating infrastructure along I-44.
Motorists in Bourbon can expect the Route C bridge to be closed from June 9 until mid-August, as reported by the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT). Once the work is finalized on Route C, the Beamer Lane I-44 overpass will follow suit, with anticipated closure until the end of September. Due to these disruptions, drivers will need to pivot to alternate paths during their daily commutes.
MoDOT is proactively communicating with the public to ensure the safety and efficiency of travel amid the construction work. On Forward 44 | Missouri Department of Transportation, updates regarding the corridor's status are readily available. "MoDOT asks all motorists to work with us by buckling up, putting your phone down, obeying all traffic signs, and slowing down and moving over in work zones," MoDOT stated, highlighting the imperative of cooperating with traffic regulations during these times.
Local residents and through-travelers alike are advised to account for additional travel time and to stay vigilant in navigating detours and construction zones. Any changes to the work schedule will be highly contingent on weather conditions, reminding the community that despite the best plans, nature often holds sway over human endeavors. Motorists are advised to use extra caution through work zones, obey all traffic signs, and avoid any distractions.
