Early morning yesterday, a fire broke out at a townhome in DeKalb County, prompting a response from the DeKalb County Fire Department around 4:30 a.m. The incident occurred at 2960 Vining Ridge Lane in Decatur, according to Atlanta News First. Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a bedroom window on the top floor.
FOX 5 Atlanta reported that the fire started on the second floor. Battalion Chief Dion Bentley stated that all residents were able to evacuate safely. Firefighters worked to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby homes.
Three residents were displaced by the fire, which caused significant damage. The affected townhome was declared a total loss. Crews remained at the scene to extinguish hot spots and prevent the fire from reigniting.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Authorities are assessing the damage and will conduct a full investigation into how the fire started.
