DeKalb County Police responded to a shooting at the Forest of Columbia Apartments on Friday last week that resulted in the deaths of Tomika Pullins, 29, and her 7-year-old niece, Dior Scott. According to a press release from the DeKalb County, officers arrived around 2:48 p.m. and found both victims inside the apartment. Despite efforts by first responders, both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses reported that the suspect, William Almond—Pullins’ estranged husband and Scott’s uncle—attempted to force entry into the apartment by breaking a window and then fired multiple shots. He fled the scene but was later taken into custody.
DeKalb County CEO Lorraine Cochran-Johnson confirmed the arrest and acknowledged the work of the police department in identifying the suspect and his relationship to the victims. The county stated it remains committed to supporting the family and ensuring the case is handled through the proper legal channels.
