A driver was seriously injured last Friday night after crashing a vehicle into a house in Essex, according to local authorities. The Essex Police Department reported that an officer observed the vehicle driving erratically on Route 133 from Gloucester at around 9:20 p.m. The car struck traffic barrels and fled the scene while dragging debris.
According to Boston 25 News, police later located the vehicle after it had crashed into a home on Eastern Avenue near Water Street. The driver was transported by MedFlight to a Boston hospital in critical condition. Essex Fire and EMS responded to the scene, with support from Beauport Ambulance and Manchester Police, who assisted in setting up a landing zone for the helicopter.
NBC Boston confirmed that the house, which was undergoing renovations, sustained significant damage. A building inspector was called to evaluate the structure. The driver was transported from Shepperd Memorial Park landing zone to a trauma center. No updates on the driver’s condition have been released.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Essex Police, with assistance from the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS).
