The East El Paso County community is grappling with the aftermath of a tragic single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a resident. According to El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte, the incident took place on Thursday and is currently under investigation by the Sheriff's Office Special Traffic Investigators (STI).
Preliminary investigations reveal a grey Toyota Tundra that, for reasons yet to be understood, went off the road, collided with a rock wall, and overturned. This scenario unfolded on the 15300 block of Montana Avenue, resulting in fatal consequences. The sole occupant of the vehicle was 39-year-old Sergio Emmanuel Camarillo-Ponce, who, despite the efforts of first responders, was pronounced dead at the scene; his family has been notified of the tragic event.
As the local community comes to terms with the sudden loss, the sheriff's office is working to understand the cause of the accident. They are examining the vehicle, the site of the crash, and any potential factors that may have contributed to the accident's deadly outcome.
