
A tragic incident unfolded in East Memphis as a woman was found shot dead outside her home. This stark event led to law enforcement's swift action resulting in an arrest.
Yesterday, the Memphis Police Department received a call about a "man down" at a residence in the 1800 block of South Perkins Road, as reported by WREG. Responding officers discovered the woman, later pronounced dead, meanwhile, her blue 2020 Chevrolet Camaro had vanished.
Further to these events, a 23-year-old man, identified as Kerrien Dates, was taken into custody in Jackson, Tenn. Authorities charged him with First-Degree Murder and Theft of Property valued between $10,000-$60,000. According to information gathered by FOX13 Memphis, the victim's car, which prompted the theft charge, was subsequently recovered.
The ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman's death continues. The Memphis Police Department has yet to disclose the cause of death, however, as the process proceeds, they have called upon the community for assistance.
