Oklahoma's own state representative, Erick Harris of Edmond, has just snagged a spot in Leadership Oklahoma's Class 38, as announced by the organization yesterday. The Leadership Oklahoma program is known for bringing together a selection of the state's current and up-and-coming leaders, aiming to mold them into the architects of Oklahoma's tomorrow.
In a statement, Harris expressed his gratitude and excitement about joining such an esteemed collective: "I am truly honored to be selected for Leadership Oklahoma Class 38," and he emphasized the importance of the program, saying it "fosters a deeper understanding of the challenges facing our state and brings together collaborators who are committed to meaningful progress." His comments were originally shared in a news release from the Oklahoma House of Representatives' official website.
Harris and his 46 peers in Class 38 will embark on a ten-month journey, where they will traverse the extensive and varied landscapes of Oklahoma, immersing themselves in the state's pressing issues, such as economic development, education, and healthcare. They will engage in critical discussions designed to propel the state forward, visiting various communities to understand the unique challenges and opportunities each face. The scope of the program doesn't stop there—it also includes a close look at infrastructure and the justice system among other areas of the state's socio-economic fabric that are poised for improvement or innovation.
